Mahdi Soleymanifar

Thesis title

Investigation on Structural Optimization of Cold-Formed Steel Components in low rise buildings

About

Mahdi holds both BSc and MSc degrees in Infrastructure Engineering, with a strong foundation in structural analysis, numerical modelling, and intelligent infrastructure systems. His research interests lie at the intersection of structural optimization, computational modelling, and the application of artificial intelligence in civil engineering—particularly in enhancing the performance and design of steel structures in low-rise buildings.

He has extensive experience with Finite Element Modelling and has applied Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques to address complex civil engineering challenges. His work also encompasses laboratory and field testing, involving advanced sensor technologies such as fiber optics, accelerometers, and strain gauges, along with data acquisition and analysis.

Professionally, Mahdi has contributed to several industry-driven research projects, including the development of infrastructure monitoring systems for:

PNG KUMUL Tower
Tehran Municipality’s urban network
Metro systems in Isfahan and Shiraz
Additionally, Mahdi gained valuable industry experience through his work with Esfahan Steel Company (Zob Ahan), which deepened his understanding of steel infrastructure and its practical challenges. He thrives in collaborative research environments and is passionate about bridging innovative academic research with real-world engineering solutions.
