A Digital Twin Approach to Evolving and Proactive Underground Risk Management

About

Milad is a PhD student in Construction Engineering and Management at UNSW Sydney. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a Master’s degree in Construction and Engineering Management, both from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. Milad’s research centers on dynamic risk and reliability analysis in complex engineering systems, with a focus on AI-driven real-time risk assessment, Bayesian networks applications in underground safety, digital twins, and building information modeling. He is the winner of the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition at both the School of Civil Engineering and Faculty of Engineering rounds and was the Runner-Up at the UNSW round. Through his research, Milad secured an International Seed Grant that established a significant industry partnership in China, leading to access to extensive underground environmental sensor data crucial to his work. His research has so far contributed to four Q1 journal publications and several conference papers.
