Scan-vs-BIM Based Real-Time Infrastructure Construction Progress Monitoring

Ziang Jiang is a PhD Candidate in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the University of New South Wales, Australia. His research focuses on monitoring infrastructure construction progress for real-time decision-making and progress management. He has conducted several field trials on transport infrastructures construction projects using terrestrial laser scanner (TLS) and handheld simultaneous location and mapping (SLAM) laser scanner. His work shows the potential of monitoring the construction progress of large-scale infrastructure projects by registering the point cloud scan data with 4D building information modelling (BIM) in a timely and automatic manner.
