About

Dr Will Midgley  earned his undergraduate degrees in mechatronics engineering and computer science from the University of Melbourne and earned a PhD from Cambridge University. He has worked in industry in Australia and Japan and has worked in academia in the United Kingdom and Australia.

His research focuses on underwater robotics, integrating machine learning into real-world robotics, and using mechatronics and control engineering to reduce the emissions of transport. Will is a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and is Deputy Director (Engineering) of the UNSW AI Institute.
